Daily Family Life

Heidi at Mt. Hope Chronicles is having a series about living lovely with family.  Today is about our daily lives.  The last couple of months I have been trying to live with intention.  Before now I never would have thought about the time spent with my family.  We don't have many wonderful, brand new traditions, but we do eat dinner together nightly and read the Bible at the table once we are done.  The boys usually ask for more than one story to be read.  That makes me feel as though we are making an impression on them.  For awhile our attention was diverted to other things, but Peter and I have recently been having discussions about how to have more intention filled relationships with the kids.

Eating dinner as a family was one of my favorite things as a kid. It was incredibly important to my parents. We ate slowly and talked and talked and talked! (In fact, my mom at Treading on Moss posted a picture of our family years ago eating dinner together. :)) So many families don't do that anymore. I applaud you for making dinner together a priority. Reading a Bible story just adds to the value! I fear my family is often too rushed or chaotic at dinner time. We need to work on slowing down.

Thank you so much for participating!!

Dinnertime can be pretty crazy right now with my very active 3-yr-old, but I still look forward to it. Family dinners were so important to me growing up and I want my children to feel the same.

Physical food and spiritual food together--what could be better? After 20 years we are still eating dinner together as a family nearly every night. I wouldn't trade it for anything!
